Vincent van Gogh
1853 – 1890
Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch painter who created bold, swirling paintings full of bright color and feeling, like The Starry Night. In just over a decade of painting, he produced an extraordinary body of work, roughly 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings, often completing a new piece every day or two. He struggled with mental illness and sold almost no paintings while he was alive. Today his paintings are some of the most loved and valuable artworks in the world.
