Roberto Clemente was a Puerto Rican baseball player who became one of the greatest outfielders in Major League Baseball history, admired for his powerful throwing arm and clutch hitting. He won 12 Gold Glove Awards and, in his very last regular-season at-bat, collected his 3,000th career hit. He was also deeply generous, spending his off-seasons helping people in need across Latin America and the Caribbean. He died in a plane crash while personally delivering earthquake relief supplies, and became the first Latin American player inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, remembered as much for his kindness as for his athletic greatness.
