Robert Schumann

1810 – 1856

1800s Germany · Composer

Robert Schumann was a German composer whose piano pieces and songs captured feelings — joy, longing, daydreams — more vividly than almost any music before them. He wrote hundreds of songs and dedicated much of his music to his wife Clara Schumann, herself one of the great pianists of the age. He also founded a music magazine where he championed young unknown composers like Chopin and Brahms.
