Helen Keller became deaf and blind before she was two years old, but with the help of her teacher Anne Sullivan she learned to read, write, and speak. She went on to become the first deafblind person to earn a college degree, graduating from Radcliffe College in 1904, and became a famous author and activist — co-founding the American Civil Liberties Union and campaigning for disability rights, women's suffrage, and workers' rights. Her life showed the world what determination and a great teacher can accomplish.
