Carl Sagan

1934 – 1996

1900s USA · Scientist

Carl Sagan was an astronomer who helped millions of people fall in love with the stars. He wrote and hosted Cosmos, a TV show that explained the whole universe in simple, wonder-filled words, and worked on NASA's Voyager missions, where he convinced engineers to turn the spacecraft's camera back toward Earth from billions of miles away to capture the famous "Pale Blue Dot" photograph. He believed science belonged to everyone, not just experts.
