Anne Frank

1929 – 1945

1940s Netherlands · Writer

Anne Frank was a young Jewish girl who loved to write. During the Holocaust, she and her family hid from Nazi persecution in a secret annex in Amsterdam for over two years, and she kept a diary about her hopes, her daily life, and her dreams for the future. The family was discovered in 1944, and Anne died in a Nazi concentration camp in early 1945, shortly before the war in Europe ended. Her diary was published afterward and has since been read by millions of people around the world.
